Introducing Pantone’s Color of The Year!

Every December, the world’s top design authorities share their color choices to bring in the new year. This year, Pantone has declared the 2023 Color of the Year to be Viva Magenta, a carmine red that’s “assertive but not aggressive” and takes a “fist in a velvet glove approach” or a “soft punch of color.”

So can a color like Viva Magenta translate into an office environment? Surprisingly, yes.

The office designer at Denver’s Desks Inc says it’s an upbeat, creative and enthusiastic color that can lift anyone’s spirits. “This of it as a classic burgundy with unrestrained energy and a spicy attitude.”

As a bold color, Viva Magenta or PMS 18-1750 can be used in small doses to create a stand-out statement. It can be used for an accent wall, in accessories like flowers, accent pillows, artwork and upholstery.

Krylon’s Color of the Year is Spanish Moss, a deep forest green that can balance with both warm and cool accents.

Benjamin Moore’s pick for 2023 is a vibrant red-orange called Raspberry Blush while Dunn-Edwards has chosen Terra Rosa, a blend of brown and burgundy that’s both subtle and dramatic.

Sherwin Williams has selected Redend Point, a blend of blush and beige with subtle pink undertones that can warm up walls while feeling calming and grounded.

Behr has gone neutral with Blank Canvas, a warm, creamy shade of white that harmonizes with a wide range of colors, from neutrals to pastels to earth tones.
